Yoga for Auto-Immune Conditions

Robin’s particular interest in auto-immune conditions stem from her struggles as a child and young adult with chronic health and immune system dysfunction. As a babe in arms and throughout her childhood, Robin suffered a barrage of ear and throat infections which were treated through a constant stream of antibiotics. By the time she discovered yoga at the age of 26, Robin had full-blown Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia and Leaky Gut Syndrome.

Yoga turned Robin’s understanding of health on its proverbial head. Weekly yoga classes provided her miraculous relief from the pain and fatigue. With two little babies at home, she was particularly motivated to improve her health and recognized quickly that yoga and this new direction was an important part of her treatment strategy. Growing up in a traditionally entrenched medical household with her father at the helm, it was through yoga Robin was first introduced to such revolutionary concepts as: What we eat affects how we feel and that stress effects our energy levels.

Though common place thinking nowadays, in the late 80’s these ideas (along with yoga) were considered rather radical. Despite the opposition from within her immediate community, Robin began to seriously examine all the components that either increased her vitality and sense of well-being, or landed her in bed racked with pain. Diet, mental health and emotional stability along with the breathing and movement practices provided by yoga resulted in a complete recovery.

Robin now experiences an abundance of energy and feels healthier than she has at any other point in her life. She has dedicated herself to yoga therapy in particular to support others like herself who experience chronic pain and fatigue. In collaboration with other medical professionals, Robin has been able to provide educational understanding as well as practical tools which empower people to take an active role in healing themselves.

Robin’s therapeutic classes are a perfect venue for those with Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Ankylosing-Spondylitis, Diabetes, HIV, Restless Leg Syndrome and other auto-immune conditions.
