Cohort 7 launches October 29th, 2023 - apply below!
If there’s one thing that we’ve learned from the current COVID crisis it’s that Breath Rules!
The world needs skilled practitioners who know how to safely teach breathing to: support immune function, recover from Acute Respiratory Distress, and quell anxiety in a lasting way. These are critical tools for every yoga teacher and therapist to know. Unfortunately, even yoga trainings that emphasize pranayama often transmit information about the breath in a way that doesn’t match respiratory science or the original teachings of yoga. The Restore Your Prana Certification course will equip you to become an expert in pranayama and to teach others to use the breath to cultivate health and resiliency!
Drawing from Robin Rothenberg’s breakthrough book, Restoring Prana: A Therapeutic Guide to Pranayama and Healing Through the Breath, this RYP immersive training will provide yoga teachers, therapists, and health-care practitioners with the necessary tools to build a level of expertise and proficiency with pranayama. Wherever your starting point, through this training you will learn how to teach pranayama with confidence and to competently use breathing exercises in your healing work with others.
This course is intentionally set up to be 100% online and self-paced so that anyone in the world can participate and work with the material in a way that best matches their learning style. For the duration of the course, you’ll be paired with a skilled mentor who will serve as your own personal coach, providing feedback, encouragement, and will facilitate your success in the program. Our mentors are available to accommodate time-zone differences. We’ve expanded the program to fifteen months from a year to allow students more time to digest and assimilate the material. Tuition supports fifteen-hours of personal mentoring, inclusive of in-person sessions every 4-6 weeks, as well as assessment feedback on homework, practicum and quizzes.
Our robust curriculum will include 30-hours of ancillary tutorials including animated videos detailing the complex physiology in a visually-friendly manner. Most importantly, it features more than twenty, inspiring pre-recorded yoga practices led by Robin Rothenberg. These demonstrate with Robin’s artistic precision how to weave the conceptual material from Restoring Prana into cogent, experientially informed classes. Additionally, each month we host an RYP sangha gathering on Sunday afternoons (Pacific Time), inclusive of members from all cohorts and alumni. These interactive forums are a time for Robin to answer questions, lead mini practices, and facilitate discussions amongst participants with their peers. Peer to peer networking and Breathing Buddy pairing has added a beautiful component of connectivity even while students are spread across the globe. The combination of these resources guarantees a deep, enriching learning experience for all.
Each module of the RYP includes a practicum component which allows you to safely practice the particular skills addressed in the corresponding section with mentor supervision and feedback.
In other words, you’ll ‘learn on the job’ and acquire immediately usable skills as you progress through the program.
All RYP mentors are C-IAYTs and have been personally trained by Robin. In addition, mentors have all completed the Buteyko Educators’ Training with one of the world’s leading authorities on the Buteyko Breathing Method, Patrick McKeown.
The Svadhayaya Breath Journal, The Restoring Prana Companion Workbook will serve as your manual for the course providing you with at-home exercises, charts, worksheets and journaling questions. The Svadhayaya Breath Journal also provides yoga teacher and therapist trainers with a ready-made manual for you to utilize in your own training program. Your RYP mentor will support you in adapting it to your particular professional needs, enabling you to fluidly transmit what you have learned in support of your trainees’ evolution.
At the completion of the training and receipt of your RYP Certification, you will be able to:
Confidently recognize and address common breathing pattern disorders
Adapt pranayama techniques for a group or individual
Teach others the basics of functional breathing
Facilitate safe and beneficial pranayama practices.
Articulate the Science of Breath from both the Vedic and Western Physiologic perspective
100 CE’s available for IAYT!, 100 APD credits available for Yoga Alliance!
Personal Study Track:
If a student’s primary intention in taking the RYP program is for personal growth and development, they may choose the personal study option. This allows students access to monthly mentor sessions and review of reflective assignments, as well as access to monthly Sangha Meetings. However, those that opt for the Personal Study Track will not be required to complete the practicum assignments or take the quizzes. With the Personal Study Track option students will not receive an RYP teaching certificate and will not be qualified to teach the RYP methodology in any educational forum. There is a slight fee reduction for the Personal Study Track.
Status Change: If a student initially chooses the Personal Study Track option, they will have three months to decide to upgrade to the full certification program. Likewise, if a student begins the course with the intention to complete the full certification and decides to change to the Personal Study Track, they can do so within the first three months, unless there are extenuating circumstances.
Personal Study Track price: $2,500

“I am a long time Yoga and Pranayama teacher (25 years plus) with growing interest in Breathwork. I was delighted to find Robin Rothenberg's 'Restoring Prana Certification' program that fit my busy schedule of teaching, mothering, yoga, and outdoor time! I live in Hong Kong and appreciate that it is a program that can be managed from anywhere in the world and time zone. Monthly meetings with my mentor are easily worked around the time difference and having her available through email to help with any question I may have throughout the month is also very helpful. Following along with Robin's Restoring Prana book and the Svadhyaya Breath Journal make the course content understandable, manageable, and inspiring. It keeps me stimulated and yearning to learn more so I can practice and teach more correctly. I would highly recommend this program to any yoga teacher or practitioner who has interest in greater health and the desire to practice the ancient art of Pranayama as it was intended.”
--Wendy Wyvill - Pure Yoga Senior Teacher - Hong Kong
“As an integrative health long-time yoga teacher, I am grateful to Robin for creating this program and for all the extensive research she has done to synthesize the ancient texts with modern anatomy and physiology. I now use RYP breathwork as one of my tools for life and look forward to spreading it to more students in the future!" - Kelly H.
