Welcome to life unplugged at Ak'bol, Belize's First Yoga/Wellness Retreat Center and Eco Family Resort devoted and open to all styles of Yoga/Wellness Education/Music/Dance/Art/Weddings.

We are located beachside on Belize's largest island, Ambergris Caye, just 2 miles from the old fishing village of San Pedro and less than a quarter mile from the second largest barrier reef in the world with world class diving. We invite you to leave your shoes in your suitcase and unwind to the natural rhythm of the island....wake up to birds chirping...dine together as a community on the beach and within our private palapa overlooking the sea with vegetarian buffet meals...enhance your teaching experience within a palapa at the end of the 300' pier surrounded by clear blue water...practice with the energy of the sea beneath you...after class plunge into the sea or in our lagoon-inspired fresh water pool...organized extra activities as the sea is your playground...engage yourself with diving, snorkeling, sailing, kayaking, windsurfing, Maya ruins....or relax in a hammock and listen to the birds...get through that book you have been wanting to read...write in your journal...and get a massage.

Cabanas facing the Caribbean Sea:

7 Traditional Belizean island style thatch cabanas total, with plantain shuttered doors that open to the sea.

3 seafront cabanas+ 4 sea/garden view cabanas all 7 with views of the sea.

One queen bed + 1 twin beds in loft + mosquito netting

Cabanas are best for 1-2 persons max, 3 adults is allowed if 3 friends are traveling together and cannot be separate but space will be limited and 2 is recommended max. ***PLEASE NOTE: We purposefully built simple, traditional and rustic. Enjoy how people lived on this island years ago. Belizean island style with carved wooden sinks, faucets out of conch shells, showers of bamboo “to keep you on island time”. We have created an experience which is a nature lovers paradise.

Wake up to the sound of birds and watch the sunrise over the sea and set over the lagoon. Unplug and keep your shoes off. No TV, no AC, no WIFI, no phones in the rooms. 24 hour Wifi is available at the restaurant and designated lounge areas.

Hostel Village Rooms with shared bath:

One price all year round, 30 rooms

Have your own private lockable room and share 2 spacious locker rooms with plenty of sinks, toilets and showers.

Single occupancy $900US | Double occupancy $800US per person x2 must have roommate

We do not room people together that don’t know each other. Note: Must have a roommate for double occupancy rates or will be charged single rate.

Meals: The above retreat pricing includes the following menu: 2 nights fresh fish, first and last night, the rest of the meals vegetarian.

Optional expenses:

$50 a day to rent a golf-cart (not necessary, but an option for those who want to explore beyond the immediate vicinity. Town is a mile away. Live nightly music a 5 min. walk.

$75 for a massage (which Kirsten says is a steal - the massage therapists are apparently AMAZING!)

$55-65 for an afternoon snorkel trip

There are other adventures and options available on the website, which you may consider as well. That said, downtime is always a most valuable commodity, so I don’t recommend jamming your week away with too many things.

In addition to your room costs, please add $300 for the baseline of the retreat. This covers the add-ons above and your tuition for the week, two classes per day led by yours truly! Kirsten also recommends that you allow $75-100 each for tipping of the Ak’bol staff. Tips will be added at your discretion to your Ak’bol bill and be paid upon check out.
