Essential Yoga Therapy is nationally recognized for its innovative yoga teacher and yoga therapist training programs.

Essential Yoga Therapy is one of the first therapy training programs to be accredited by the Accreditation Committee of the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT). Our highly regarded programs produce the very best yoga teachers and therapists, helping them advance in their own journey as they prepare to teach their own students. Our expert faculty brings years of knowledge, experience and technique to each class, delivering an unmatched learning opportunity.

The Essential Yoga Therapy Therapist Training program takes seasoned, mature, yoga teachers and provides them the skills and knowledge to become competent yoga therapists. Our faculty members offer professional, medical expertise in yoga therapy, yoga philosophy, anatomy, physiology, psychology and ayurveda to make this program an incredibly rich and unique training. We now offer pathways to our program for both RYT500s and RYT200s.

Drawing from Robin Rothenberg’s breakthrough book, Restoring Prana: A Therapeutic Guide to Pranayama and Healing Through the Breath, the RYP immersive training will provide yoga teachers, therapists, and trainers with the tools necessary to build a level of expertise and proficiency to teach pranayama and use breathing exercises in their healing work with others.

Essential Low Back Teacher Training

In this 5-day intensive, you will develop the means to intelligently address the primary low back dysfunctions, hypo- and hypermobility, S.I. destabilization, pelvic misalignment, scoliosis, and lumbar-disc conditions. With Robin Rothenberg’s expert guidance, you will learn the importance of breathing, sequencing, and adaptation as key elements in addressing therapeutic issues.

Based on the Viniyoga lineage with core alignment principles drawn from the Iyengar tradition, this program is designed to take instructors with their RYT200 and advance them into a vocational level of teaching, capable of working with specialty classes and individuals. Additionally this training will enable teachers to begin cultivating the eye, mind and vocabulary of a yoga therapist through learning how to customize practice. Foundations functions as Part I of the Therapist Training Program for those interested in becoming an EYT Certified Yoga Therapist.
